Looking for elusive Shanghai-Dragon kits.

Greetings all. I am normally a die hard 1/48 aircraft nut but also have the bug for building 1/700 scale warships too. As most of my other subjects either fly off of or are designed to explosively scuttle ships I feel they go together. At any rate my problem is this, I can’t find what I’m looking for! Big surprise eh? Anyone who could lend a hand as to a source for obtaining the following Shanghai-Dragon kits would have my sincere gratitude:

7001 U.S.S. Dallas vs. Typhoon

7002 U.S.S. Ohio vs. Alpha

7004 HMS Trafalgar vs. Oscar

7007 HMS Revenge vs. Victor III

7008 USS Tarawa

7009 USS Saipan

7010 US Marine Amphibious Force

7024 USS Cochrane

I saw these kits on the manufacturers website and have looked at several other websites attempting to buy these kits but have had no success. I did find a few listed for sale but was advised they were out of stock when trying to place the order. All help is greatly appreciated.

Gotta try Ebay for these hard to find items. I frequently do when I need reference materials or kits that are hard to locate.

Deal with reputable sellers with good feedback and you likely will be very satisfied.

To my mind, it’s the place to get hard to find or out of production materials.

While I am generally hesitant to reccomend them, Great Models has almost all of those kits you have listed above. I know I got the Tarawa from them 2 months ago during one of their sales. The only 2 I couldn’t find were the USS Ohio vs the whatever and the US Marine Expeditionary Force.

Thanks for the info. Looking them up tonight. After doing a little research I wonder if the USMC Expeditionary force was ever released other than in S-G’s minds. Should anyone have further info on the USMC AEF I would appreciate it. Thank you all again for the help.

It certainly was released, at least here in Australia. I have no idea how long ago I bought it, but it must be at least 10-12 years. The copyright date on the side of the box says 1990.

This kit contains:

2x CH-53E
4x CH-46E
2x AH-1W
2x V-22
4x AV-8B
2x LVTP7
2x M60A3
2x LCM6
1x LCAC

Thanks again folks. At least I know that I can start looking in the back rooms and auction sites for this one. I don’t build many ships but I have recently had a fascination with modern US Navy ships. Now, where’s the PE bending tool?

Check with Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove, California. LAst time I was there I think they had the Alpha vs Ohio set. Their website is WWW.Brookhursthobbies.com
