So i tried to order white ensign paints and got an email that they can no longer ship paint outside the UK to the US. so i need close matches for rlm 62 & 63 for my condor and model masters just dont look correct to my eye so are there any others?
Most every paint line has these. If you’re painting acryl then look at Vallejo, either the pre-thinned Model ‘Air’ line for airbrushing, or the thicker regular stuff, as they’ve got pretty much every major RLM color ready to go. You can even order RLM sets… I started off airbrushing my first model a couple of years ago when coming back to the hobby (FW Dora) by ordering all three Vallejo RLM sets, covering the mainly used colors. It’s 8 bottles to the set, and each one comes with a very nice RLM color variant guide, discussing the colors, where they were used, and how they tended to get substituted or mixed as the war progressed. Really nice.
You’ll likely have to mix Tamiya, as I don’t think they have most of the RLM line natively. If you paint solvent based, Mr Color has most of the RLM line ready to go. I’ve switched entirely over to this, using the Vallejo collection for brush touchups (the Air line brush paints shockingly well… better than it airbrushes, IMHO.)
Try Polly Scale. I know they make those less used RLM colors.
Try Revel Aqua or Humbrol’s Acrylics, Should be easier to get hold of
This ‘kerfufle’ is because of the UK Post Office deciding that those old 14ml Tinlets are ‘too dangerous’ to post, go figure
