Looking for an especific Panzer III

I also have the Tamiya Panzer III ausf. L, even I bought the Tamiya etched exhaust grills, and I’ve chosen the º 133, Nº 133, sPzAbt 502, 1st Company, Russia, September 1942… But here’s the point: The instruction sheet calls for Dunkelgelb (¿Dunkelgelb for 1942?) as base color and green for the camouflage… Is that correct?.. I’ve seen someone who painted it panzer grey instead of green, and for 1942… You know, I thought that olivgrun was used from 1943 to the end of the war… Many thanks in advance. Most regards.

Dunkelgelb, from my refs, became official in Feb. '43. Something appears to be amiss. Now if it were in Africa, than maybe it would be in a different scheme. It should be Panzergrey for fall of '42 in Russia.

BTW, the Tamiya Pz III L is one of my all-time favorite builds.

For it to be part of sPzAbt 502 in 1942, Panzer Gray is the only option. Sounds like they got the time-frame wrong. IIRC the L’s were replaced with N’s in 1943.

I was also questioning tank 133 in camo in 1942, but there is a L from 11pz.div. at kursk on the side of the box, is that wrong too? If so no big deal, I will just make 133 panzer gray

I think I solved this little mystery, the Panzer III L was produced from June to December of 1942, I will say that 133 was panzer gray.

Guys,

I think there is a typo in the instructions. If you have the version that came with the panzergrenadiers, I think the date is wrong on in the color guide. They changed some of the decals in the re-release, but in the original issue of the Pz IIIL, the first scheme was a tank from the HG regiment from Sept '42, and 133 was one of the later ones. I think they rearranged the artwork without updating all the dates correctly. 133 should be in yellow and olive green, but was painted that way for the Kursk offensive in 1943.

Jeff

oh ok, thats good because I really wanted to do 133 in yellow, thanks
