I want to build an F-4 and an A-4, in Marine markings and the more colorful paint schemes of the 60s or 70s. Who has the decals I’m looking for, and which kits will make the best birds? Thanks for your time.
a little more info is needed. what units are you speaking of? what scale do you want to do? for me when i start to look to do a build i look at which unit i want and go from there. it may seem like taking a step backwards but with this info the answer you need can be found.

I’m not concerned with any particular squadron, but the scale I’m interested in is 1/48.
I’ve bulit a Hornet in VMFA-232 colors and I have an Intruder with VMFA-121 decals that needs to be built. Both are 1/48. I was just looking for some suggestions as to interesting squadron markings that would make for good display. My focus is more on aircraft and vehicles used or in use by the Marines, no specific unit. I guess you could say that’s the “theme” I use in selecting models.
In 1/48, Hasegawa is the best choice for both Birds. There are several aftermarket sheets available for either. Aeromaster, Eagle Strike, CAM, Cutting Edge, Two Bobs and others have all released sheets for these AC in both Navy & Marine markings.
Also look at FoxOne for Phantom decals I have a set coming in from a trade I made last week. They have some nice markings from VMFA-333
