Can’t recall the name of the tank right now, saw it at a tank museum once. Japanese setting, wrecked, but neat looking. US, light tank, scorpion, or stinger, I think it was called.
Maybe 5 or 6 main road wheels, front drive wheel and I don’t think any return rollers.
Possibly mounted a pair of 20mm (or something close to that) guns.
Yeah, I’m not being much help here…sorry
'twas called the m-56 Scorpion.
Anyone make a model of it?
M56 Scorpion (called the SPAT or self-propelled anti-tank) was a modern piece of equipment used by airborne forces during Vietnam. Wasn’t around in WW2, and it mounted a 90mm main gun in an unarmored mount. Revell did a 1/40 scale version that got reissued about 10 years ago.
The vehicle you are looking for sounds like an M42 Duster twin 40mm (based on the M41 Walker Bulldog chassis). It wasn’t around until after the Korean War but served with the US Army National Guard into the late 80s. Tamiya does one of these that comes in and out of production.
There was also a version based on the M24 Chaffee light tank that was in use during Korea called the M19. It may have seen use in late WW2 (Chaffee entered service in the winter of 1944), but I am not sure. By the time it came into service, the USAAC pretty much ruled the skies and there was not a big demand for anti-aircraft artillery. CMK did a resin one in 1/35.

and to the M19, which is what you are probably looking for: http://svsm.org/gallery/M19

If it was an M56 Scorpion, it wasn’t in WWII. The M56 was a post war design and made in the '50s.

I think there was an old Renwal/Revell kit of it years ago, but believe it is long OOP.
Thanks gang-
Not only did I get my years goofed up, I got my designations FUBAR’d too.
Yes indeed it was the scorpion, and it was from the korean war, and not from a ww2 diorama I saw.
Bummer it’s long out of print
Now I remember this model. I think it was a renwal because I had one including the ontos which uses the same kind of tracks. It was a cute model and easy to build.
I’ve got both the Revell M56 and Renwal M50 Ontos, different kits by different manufacturers in different scales. Revell did take over the Renwal molds and released both the Scorpion and ontos in 1982. Both were in similar packaging (photo of the built kit on a dirt pile). The Renwal Ontos is 1/32 and the Revell M56 was in 1/40 scale.
They did have the same mission though, provide anti-tank support to light forces.
Both the Ontos and the Scorpion did not see service until the late 50’s or early 60’s
