Specifically the female driver figure from Tamiya’s #24342 Mazda MX-5 roadster. Looks like it could be made to work for another project I’ve got cookin’…but I’d rather not have to plunk down $40 for the whole kit, which I’ve got little use for or interst in.
Anyone with a spare or unused figure…or ideas for an alternate source…I’d be happy to hear from you by PM.
Check out Civilian drivers in either Hasegawa or Tamiya lists. One of them had quite a few not that long ago either! Kind of Waterfront of something like that. Fonz type guy and pretty girls and a geeky Guy!
Have a look on eBay and search for “1/24 figures”. There are a lot of figures made to go with car models, albeit many are male drivers or pit crew members. But you can see a good variety of figures on eBay.
One maker to look for is Jimmy Flintstone. He makes a series of solid resin figures meant to go with car models. Again, the drivers may all be male; his female figures are mostly hotties and pin-up types. But you might find something you can convert.
Fujimi produced this set of figures, which includes a female driver not very different from the Tamiya figure:
Another thought is to check out MasterBox. They’ve got a series of 1/24 scale figures for cars, and they might have a female driver like the one in the Tamiya kit.
To piggyback on the Baron’s response, also check out/ search for ‘American Diorama’ brand 1/24 figures. they are designed for model railroads (I always get confused, but I think G scale…). they are solid resin figures, kinda painted up a little crappy, but with a little easy off in a plastic baggie, and some fresh paint, they come out quite nice!
This is one I did for a chopped top Merc I built…
