Looking for a Bell

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I work for a news station (WPRI Providence) & we just got a helicopter not too long ago. Just for giggles I thought it would be fun to build it, (the live trucks, too, but that’s another story) complete with scratched gyro camera, transmitter & edit bay in the back. And of course there’d be the honkin’ logo on the side![:D]
Now the fun part is finding a chopper that I can start with. Our bird is a Bell 206 L-3 Long Ranger. I don’t need the exact model (no pun intended) to create her, just something “close enough”.
Anyone know where I can find a Bell Long Ranger? [?]

Too bad, Prince!

The Long Ranger, being a civil helo, is not available as a scale model. Maybe, if some army decides to attach rockets to it, or maybe if the USCG would decide to use it for short range recovery duty ([;)]) you (and I!) would get lucky one day…

Good luck!

AstroKit has a 1/48 scale model of the Bell 206 in Army and Police/Fire versions for around $25. It may take a little bit of conversion, but it would be a great starting point. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, demono69! I’ll keep a look out for one. Are they still in production?

edit: Nevermind. Appears they still are. I Googled the chopper & it looks pretty close to what our station has. Just a bit of mods & it’ll look close enough! Thanks!

I know that Great Models will special order them, as they are not readily available. Good luck in your quest!

Revell did a military/civilian OH-58A/Bell Jet Ranger in 1/32 scale a while back and I think Revell of Germany reissued it lately. Might be close enough to fake it. Fujimi also did the same OH-58A/Jet Ranger in 1/48 scale. Either of these kits will “look” like a similar chopper to the casual observer.

Oooo, more good ideas! Thanks, Rob.
