Looking for 1/18 U.S. National Insignia, Bell X-1 program

Hey guys,

Anyone know of a place that carries a sheet of 1/18 U.S. N.I. decals. Looking for the stars and bars for a 1/18 pegasus X-1 kit.

I’ve checked Squadron and Sprue Brothers, but couldn’t find anything. Even a Google search doesn’t turn up much.

It’s for a buddy of mine; I told him I’d check with you guys. I figure if anyone would know, it would be this group.

That scale is gonna force ya to turn places that do R/C aircraft models…

Do you know the sizes of the insignia you need? Not just scale because that doesn’t mean much, as the insignias varied in size from aircraft to aircraft. I have a couple rather large ones. You could even mask and paint something that large. Scale up a decal to make yourself a paint mask.

Or try alternative decal sources, 48th scale B-29 is an idea, maybe even twin engine aircraft in 32nd scale. I’ve got a 18 scale P-51 and it’s star and bars are not much bigger than either the B-17 or B-29 decals. Plus, didnt the X-1 carry a smaller size S/B anyway?

I think your best bet would like said above, R/C decals,

Thanks, guys. I’m waiting to hear back from him about the size.

I know there’s at least one decal sheet that has different size stars on it. Maybe if I can track that down again, he can paint the bars.

If all else fails try Archer Fine Transfers. They can quote you for a custom size like that to see if it is worth it.
