[8D]Finally I got a Digital Camera…

I just wanted to (finally) post some pictures of my work. Here is a Bren Carrier I am almost finished, save the tracks, I am looking for an AM set. Please let me know what you think, both about the model and the photo. I need some help with the lighting, I know[:D][:)]

Good stuff Richard. The Bren is looking real good, even without the tracks.

Only thing I’d suggest woul be a dark wash around the suspension, to make that detail pop out a bit. It gives it a bit of a greasy look too.
I like the markings, you have blended them in very well with your weathering.

You are doing better with the camera than I am, too!

THe model looks great. I like the weathering you’ve done around the edges, where the bolts are, very subtle. If anything, just as Matt said, a dark wash around the suspension would be good.

I think you’ve done a great job capturing the character of the vehicle.

If I may, I have just a couple suggestions.

  1. In the first picture, there are very obvious seams on the rubber portion of the road wheels and on the springs and their supports. Removing them would make the piece look a little more accurate.
  2. In picture #2, where the port side plate (the one with the star) joins to the front plate (the perpendicular one), there appears to be a slight gap that should not be there. Try some putty or gap filling super glue and some sandpaper to close up those pieces.
    Lastly, I’m curious: Above the circular #5 decal on the front of the hull, is that gash supposed to be there?

Richard, nice looking UC. The guys have pointed out a few things as a result of photography. The amazing thing is that it shows up a lot that is not readily obvious to the naked eye. After getting my digi cam and taking shots of my models, so many little things showed up that I had not noticed before. Also, the bigger the photo you post, the more can be seen - just like using a magnifying glass. You can use that to advantage by taking pics during construction and then reviewing them later.

For taking pics, try doing it in natural daylight. Not direct sun as this will cause sharp shadows, just diffused light from close to a window. Most Digi cams do not need anywhere near the amount of light a 35mm camera does.

Thanks for your kind words and very constructive criticism! This model is actually about 3 years in the making (yes I am on of those modelers that never finishes a project) and has been sort of a test bed for weathering techniques I have learned on this forum and others. I actually had the rubber band tracks on it and they looked terrible. So I will look for some nice AM tracks.

As this was my first attempt at digital photos I was happy with the quality, but need to work on the lighting.

Styrene: Yea those seems are pretty obvious. That “gash” was a weak attempt at battle damage. I was supposed to simulate where it ran into a rock and the weld separated. Thanks for the input!

Coming along nicely Richard. The guys have caught everything that I saw. As far as I know, the only AM tracks for this kit are from Model Kasten and come with quite the price tag. Not sure if anyone else has released a set or not.
