Look at my score Nazi Flag

Hey all,

I haven’t been posting too much here but usually check here daily. Well, today my uncle moved here from Michigan and as we were unloading the truck, he pulled out a flag.

I knew my grandfather was in WW2 and he died when I was real young. I never knew exactly what he did in the war until today…

He was an engineer I do not know any specifics as far as unit. I was told he had gotten this Nazi flag from Germany as they were marching across. I was stunned to find out this is the real deal and not a fake. I kept asking him and my mom if it was real and they assured me it was. I said “can I have it?” half jokingly and to my surprise he said I could under one condition. I keep it in the family and never give it away or sell it. i said it is done… So here is my score…

Sorry, photobucket took my pictures off!!

I can email them to you if you want to see it.

This flag is of cloth material and has a few moth holes in it. The colors are vibrant. I in no way condone what this flag stood for, but I do cherish the history that is behind it and how it came to my possession. I will find out more about my grandfather in the near future as my uncle now lives approx. 10 miles from me. He said my aunt has a flag with 48 stars he is going to get and will give it to me also. I told him he could give me anything he wanted and it will be safe. I am humbled by his generosity as he also said he has no family that will cherish it to pass this on to.

It is very cool that you have inherited/obtained his war trpohy and realize what it stands for. As long as you put it in the proper perspective it belongs in, and perhaps one day pass it on to future generation appropriately, I think he would be happy.

My wifes grandfather fought in WWII from Sicily to VE Day with the 45th Division and I can claim no higher honor than merely knowing this man and hearing some of his tales. From one soldier to another we understood one another, and that was more than I could ever hope to ask.

Remember the price paid by his comrades for your score.

My suggestion is that you get yourself one of those vacuum sealed bags to store the flag in. Having it explosed to light will cause it to begin to fade and dry rot. Preserve it. Displaying it can open up some controversy you may not be willing to expose you or your family to. It is a great piece of history! I think from what you said your grandfather prized it for the sacrafices he and his comrades made to see that it did not wave over anyone any longer. Preserve it and the accomplishments your grandfather achieved.

I agree, I will have to find something to protect it. I was just amazed that it is real and not a reproduction flag. As far as hanging it, My superiors wouldn’t look too kindly on that. I just hung it up to take pictures. That would be all I needed lol. Anyway, after seeing so many people put war items to show on here, I am just glad that I own a piece of history that I know will be taken care of for a very long time. They have an old old old 303 rifle I just might inherit also, but my step aunt has to make that choice. It was her grandfathers. My uncle said he will give me anything else that was my grandfathers from the war as he acquires it. I am so stoked about this, I can’t express my excitement on here.

Historically, very very cool.

Just don’t try parading with in on July 4th, okay? [;)]

Instead of photo’s, I got a photobucket warning "This image or video violated our terms of service" Whats with that ? is Photobucket set up to detect and remove certain images ? (eg: swastika)

The PC police have long arms.

What we all must begin to realize is that George Orwell’s book “1984” wasn’t really a book, but a warning.

Hold on…

I thought I heard a helicopter circling my house, but I must have been mistaken!

Ohhhhh! That’s just too effing much Wirraway!

I saw the pics before censorship and it was a decent presentation just for pics. Nice little piece of history he has there.

No they’re over my house!! lol I guess some people just can’t appreciate history. i understand though.
