What’s that, just over a week. That’s pretty good going.
Yeah, they shipped a week ago last Saturday.
My daughter and I finished the lawn-mowing–got rained on anyway; opened the box and the decals were in it, along with two Airfix early ragwing Hurricanes. Might do one for the '39-'40 GB.
Leaving on vacation on Wednesday till Saturday. Should get decals on the tail before we leave; then get the tails on the plane after we get back.
Sealed everything up tonight; tiddley-bits and weathering up next. Should be done by the end of the week, if not sooner!
Good to hear they arrived Check, 2 Hurricane’s, you planning a squadron.
That looks very very nice aj. Lovely work on the cowling.
AJD: Looks fine to me!
CMK02: Yeah about a week is pretty fast shipping, sounds cool!
That’s a pretty colorful Jug you have there! Looks great!
Maybe. . .[;)]
But, back to matters at hand. Decided not to delay on this one, so: finished! Again!
Much better now. And, again, I want to thank Gary for pointing out the faux pas. Wouldn’t have done it without ya.
And thanks again, Bish, for another great group build. It’s always a pleasure.
Ok, now it all looks “normal” Very nice recovery and finish!
Now that looks better. Nice recovery indeed. I have changed the pic on the front page.
Thanks, stik and Bish. Accuracy is always better, and now I’ll never forget how the stabilizers fit on a B-24!
Yeah, she does look ‘right’ now, wish someone had pointed that out on mine!
Thanks, Gamera. It’s hard to catch errors in the kit-supplied directions. I suppose we all mostly expect them to be accurate.
I appreciate all the feedback from you guys! I do jave another question though. On the R-2800, I’ve seen the mags the same color as the crankcase, and then I have seen them painted a satin black. Was there any rhyme or reason to the color?
Well I did some research and it seems the smaller standard magnetos where engine gray, while the larger General Electric mags (such as the ones on my Jug) were satin black. Can anyone confirm or dispute this?
Well, no one will probably dispute that.
Well it’s a little later than I wanted, but I finished my C-47 diorama. I kinda got distracted by a 1:1 jeep, but I’ll have an excellent reference when I get around to the 1/35 scale one I have! Well here’s the figures all painted, just before shadows and highlights added: Base all done and a test position of the C-47:
And finally the end result:
That’s an excellent diorama, B17Pilot. The way you’ve arranged the figures and plane infuses a kind of tension into the scene. You can sense the drama! Nice work!
Man that is beautiful work! I might suggest some facepaint on the jumpers if it’s not too late for you there… Not the Indian style warpaint of some photos, but the more common blackening seen in most pre jump photos from June 5th.
Absolutely fantastic work. You should be proud of the work you did.
Now that is a nice looking Dio 17, thanks for adding the pics.
