Hey guys. Well, my long term project is a 1956 Ford F-100 small window pickup. My favorite vehicle ever! It started as a cab and front fender combination with a standard hood. I like custom, so I have removed the fenders from the cab and glued the hood on to turn it into a flip front end. Then I chopped the top. I had to cut the roof in half and insert a styrene sheet in order to bring the top of the pillars out far enough to line up with the bottom portion and I had to rebuild (with putty) how the pillars flowed into the bottom portion of the cab. This is my first time I have ever done something like this to my models, so it has been a learning experience! I am almost done with all the sanding and I just wanted to see what everyone thought of how it is coming along! Any feedback, positive or negative, will be appreciated!

Sorry for the size and slight fuzzyness of the photos. Working on that! Also, I took the chance to try out different gap filling solutions with all the new seams I greated doing this. Testors Red Putty, Super Glue, ETC…,

What do ya’ll think?

Does it suck so bad that no one wants to comment and hurt my feelings??? [:(] I promise I’m not made of glass and can handle (and would appreciate) some critisim! Please help me get better!

Hi there! Yup, I hate that too!

So I’ll give my input…despite the fuzzy pictures…it looks fine to me what you done sofar. The shape of the cab does not look very customized, and that the good thing about it!

I am looking forward to an update I must say I’d really like to see the quality of the pictures improved [:D]

[#ditto] Testors makes red putty? No offense, but is it crap like their white filler? [%-)]

The pictures are a little fuzzy but I will tell you what I do like about it. From the looks of it you are putting alot of effort in to the preperation and you are building to your specs, the little things are what seperate a kit builder from a fine scale modeler. Cant say from the pics that you are there and it seems a little early in the build to tell anyway but you sure have shown a lot of the symptoms

Well, I had life get in the way for a bit and haven’t been working on my project! I have finally gotten back to it the other day. With some hard looking I noticed that the roof had a slight slope to the right when looking at the front. Dissassembled the right side, added a bit of putty and got it perfect now! I only have a general pic right now, and the quality is better. I will take closer up pics of the joints of the cab soon. Here’s where I’m at now.

I hope to finish up the cab tonight and get it in primer to check for any rough spots. same for the hood.

So I finally got the entire cab portion of the truck done with ONE exception. I went to work the drivers side door frame in and realized that I had accidentally THREW out the cut portion that I needed!!!

DANG IT!!!

So now I’m working on my second styrene project ever. Building a new chopped door frame. I’ve got the basic shape/size done. Now I just have to figure out how to do the sills for the windows. I’m thinking just be REALLY careful with an edger.

I did one back when I was a teenager that I sectioned and chopped the top. Seems like I had one heck of a time getting the doors to fit right. My mother gave it away to the paper boy!!
