i have the Academy M60A2 (NOT CALLED A STARSHIP!!!). It’s “living history” because i was in an A2 unit in Germany in the '70s. I will be building it as my tank. Others have built models of vehicles, planes, ships, etc they have served with or for parents and veterans who served in them.
Have to agree with you waynec. Have a couple of F4’s I will build as birds I worked on at Udorn. One is an RF and the other is Ritche’s “D” model. Have the decals for both, jst have to get fired up enough to start them. They will end up goings to the new Veterans Home here in town, as they are starting to get the 'Nam era guys in now.
I know exactly what kit you’re talking about. I’d love to get that one myself but I never understood what they would call it the “Starship”. A cool looking tank though.

Goldhammer. got mine in July 1975, C-16, 3-33AR 3AD. we never called them starships. the commanders power stabilized cupola was very cool (M-85 .50cal mounted upside down with right hand feed). if all the lights were on we had lights for the ammo select buttons on the computer to override the gunner (maybe 4 lights), lights on the laser rangefinder (ranges, computer input , range selection and 1 or 2 more), green hue from passive sight, light coming up from the turret. certainly looked cool.
Dragon is suppose to be coming out with one and rumor has it AFV Club might. There ids a cool AFV Club A1 build in ARMOR, full interior and he is doing panel and instrument lighting.
Spru-ce a friend had the original kit in his garage and gave it to me. the kit is the rebuilt engine and doesn’t look like it did during the chase in '62. The one they used in THE GREAT LOCOMOTIVE CHASE is the William Mason from the B&O RR Museum in Baltimore. she has been in several movies. looks like a nice kit and i am quite good at building my own track.
I also have the kit but won’t worry about how the engine looked in 1862.
The kit looks good enough OOB for me. [:P]

My Dad was an M60-A1 commander back in 70-74 in Germany…not sure of the name of the base he was stationed at…but he lived in Erlangen, just outside Nurnberg. We vacationed there last month…saw the house I was “designed” in! Dad put in for aviation after that and became a Huey pilot.
