i ran across a liqiud latex mask (forgot the name) that artists use on canvas and was wondering if that can be applied to canopys or as camo borders. anybody know of the stuff?
I use MasterMask. I dont know the name of the stuff your looking at, but if its latex, what harm can it cause. You Are useing it for modeling? Arnt You?
ya, like i said for canopys and camo borders. the thing is when its used on canvas you use an eraser to pull it up after you’ve painted over it. i’m curious if it is the same stuff as micromask or any of the other masking agents on the market.
Sounds interesting. Maybe you’ve stumbled on to something good. What’s the name of this stuff?
Jerry
I used something similar back in the 90’s with good results… it was a lot like rubber cment and pulled up with an eraser or other such object… I say try it on something and see! especially if you Future your canopies you can’t go worng… but I have the feeling it is similar if not the same as what I used,
Years ago, I tried a liquid mask on a tri color Corsair fuselage. It bonded with the paint and I couldn’t get it off. If you try any of this, do it on a piece of scrap.
I’m not sure if that will work for you…your best bet is to sample some on a spare piece before any damage is done…
I’ve heard microscals has a liquid mask that’s pretty good as far as they go…I tend to paint my canopies by hand…
Take care,
Doug
