This is a model just completed by Mike Grant. For those of you who do not know Mike he is an amazing graphic artist who does (at times) custom decal work. The aircraft in my signiture (The Impatient Virgin) is artwork done by Mike. Not like I’m a master model-builder, but don’t the engines look a little too weathered? The interior is excellent…I love the navigator’s station.
That is PhD work compared to my Kindergarten level work. Absolutely fantastic and definately up to Mike’s standards with his decal work.

It’s a fair question Kevin, but if anything I’ve toned down the weathering from the photo I was using for reference. This particular photo appeared in the Flight Journal ‘B-17 Special Issue’ and shows 2 Forts flying low over the english countryside. It’s an amazing WW2 colour photograph and although neither of the two B-17s is ‘2nd Patches’ I did use it as a guide to my weathering. And believe me, the engines are much dirtier than on my model. [:)] If you can get hold of the magazine, check it out (I can’t post the image here for copyright reasons).
