I was given a present of a 1/240 scale Lindberg USS Gato submarine.
I know there are resin & photoetch accesories available for the Revell version but anyone know of similar for this model?
Many thanks,
Dermot

I’d be surprised if anyone bothers to release detail accessories for this kit-- it is widely regarded as a real dog-- a re-release of a very old mold, full of inaccuracies. Most builders who want an accurate model, willing to spend money on detail sets, wouldn’t be starting with such a kit.
Hi Dermot,
There’s nothing out there that I’m aware of. With it being such an odd scale (box scale - the model was designed around the box) there’s really nothing you can us even from standard ship fittings…typically 1/192 and 1/96.
Sorry, but I think the only option for this one is to scratchbuild.
Jeff
Thanks all for the replies - much appreciated.
Best regards,
Dermot
That kit obviously doesn’t meet the standards of accuracy and detail that are taken for granted these days. It does, however, have considerable significance to anybody interested in the history of the hobby. It has a reasonable claim to the distinction of being the first plastic ship kit - or even, perhaps, the first plastic scale model kit of any sort. The convoluted history of it was detailed in one of the “Classic Kit” columns in FSM.
Dermot - If I were you I’d hang onto that kit. It may not be state-of-the-art, but it’s a little piece of history.
