Newbie here and any help would be appreciated on this question. I normally model WWII armor but have had for some time a Lindberg Flecther DD. I want to detail it and had thought there was a PE detail kit for it (thought I saw one mentioned in an article in FSM a long time ago).
So, the question, does anyone know if such a PE kit exists for this model? Was there ever one at all?
I’ve gone to a few aftermarket sites but have found nothing.

What scale is the model? You may be able to use the generic railing, gun, or other detail kits put out by some of the manufacturers. (i.e. Gold Medal Models) It’s definately worth a shot.

IIRC, the Lindberg Fletcher is 1/125 scale.
Jeff Herne has a terrific article on steelnavy.com that describes the huge amount of work it takes to convert this model into an accurate Fletcher.

I read the Jeff Herne article and it confirmed my fears that the model is far from correct. I have the squadron book on the Fletcher and it is very noticable that errors exist. I was expecting to gave to coreect or scratchbuild many parts but now I know the hull is wrong too! I was expecting maybe 6 months of work but now think it will take considerably longer.
I had that kit a few years ago. I built and painted almost all of it , then it was demolished by accident during a long move. I ended up chunking it I was so mad. I do remember an article along time ago where the builder super detailed it . he also placed a Jap zero crashing into it , or something. But he used alot of photo etch parts made for the kit. At least I know there were some made, but I dont remember who did.
I think that is the article I remember.
Cut your losses…get rid of the Lindbergh kit.
If you want a wonderful Fletcher in larger scale, I recommend the Bluejacket 1/192 Fletcher.
Iron Shipwrights was supposed to release one in resin, but I’m not sure if it’s out yet.

I do appreciate the feedback especially from an expert on the subject matter! Unfortunately, buying another kit is out of my budget since and the BlueJacket kit is close to $300.00. I have a shed devoted to kits as it is!
I have had the thing for years and thought of finally giving it a go. Having this info will likely save me a few headaches.

The Lindbergh kit truly requires the 10 step program…I honestly believe I needed Modelers Anonymous after that build.
