Any idea why these 5 holes along the bottom of the fuselage are here? Should they be left open or filled?
Thanks

Is that a MiG-17 or 19?
Isn’t there supposed to be a small (but long) ventral fin there?
(My other option is “bullet holes from a 20mm cannon”…)
Lightning [;)]
its an airfix f6 lightning so there are two off centre fins. i cant see an reason for thr holes to be there but can tfind a pic of the belly to make sure.
I will choke airfix out if the kit really comes with battle damage included [8o|]
If not a fuel tank I would guess antennas. But I assume you’ve studied the instructions.
Talentless,
I checked my references on the Lightning and those holes appear to match the locations of the attachment bolts that held the ventrtal pack to the belly. They show up in some photos such as this one of ZU-BEW, a South African civilian owned F.6.
Cheers, Aaron
Professor -There is nothing in the instructions about them, the aireals go elsewhere and it is so low to the ground nothing could be carrird there.
Aeron - thanks for the pic, it proves they should be there thats, what i really needed to know, nice one mate
. Possibly they may just bee drains so fuel or oil dont accumulate in the belly, looks a bit stained. main thing is they are actually supposed to be there so problem solved now i can start painting.
Thanks all.
edit : looks like you are correct, they are indeed mounting bolts [B]
