I have the Minicraft 1/350 Titanic and have long wanted to light the bugger up so that the portholes that I spent so much time drilling out will be lit. The sight of the Titanic with the light streaming out of the portholes at night were impressive. My question is, 'Is there anyone that has done this, and if so, what lighting did you use to accomplish this task. Your input is geatly appreciated. Thanks.
I’ve started to do one. My wife thought it was something we could do together… She drilled out two portholes and said “I’m done!!” Needless to say, Titanic is still progress.
As for the method I used, I came across a website (http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Portal/5262/start.htm)
and followed the same process the author used. The method requires 2 incandescent light bulbs and fiber optics. The result is pretty impressive. Maybe someday, between work, school, and al my other projects in progress, I’ll get it done.
Hope this helps.
Take a look at the TRMA website. Here you will find information on all things Titanic. The URL is “http://www.titanic-model.com”
Here you will find a complete guide to building this kit, plus links to many online resources. The forum on this site includes lots of posts regarding lighting the model.
Hope this helps
