Lighting up Polar light's NCC-1701A

I’ve been interested in building a Enterprise with lighting. I am thinking about starting with Polar light’s highly recommended kit. However, I have a few questions before I buy the kit:

Does the kit provide a transparent deflector dish for the purpose of lighting?

Does the kit provide any internal light ducts so that various external lights on the ship, such as the navigation lights and the livery lights to illuminate the ship name can be realistically lit up?

Does the kit provide a transparent part of the warp nacelle to allow the center part of the nacelle to light up as if the engine was operating?

Wow, can’t believe no one has replied to this yet. There are clear parts for the warp engines and the deflector to facilitate lighting, but no light “channels” for the interior. You’re kinda on your own there to fab some up. Hopefully some others will post up with more info. Otherwise there’s lots of info on this at Starshipmodeler.com too.

Yes there are clear parts!!!I am very pleased with the polar light’s kit!!! If you have a chance to get one don’t pass it up!!! You won’t be disappointed!!! I liked it so much I bought two of them!!! If you have any questions there are alot of builders that have done this one!! Chris from Japan did some real fine work on his!!! Just look for Chris in Japan…He has some great pictures!!! Also Raist3001. Darrell

This kit screams to be lit, with all the clear parts, and the interior detail. I wasn’t going to light it but felt like I wasn’t getting my moneys worth unless I did.

Check out www.trekmodeler.com. If you have enough money he has a light kit for the 1/350 refit to light up the model like the studio model. I plan to get one when I can afford it. This kit is supposedly idiot proof meaning you just insert everything into the kit. There is no soldering or buying of LED’s etc. This allows you to take the time to paint it the way you want instead of worrying how you can get it to light up.

$295!!

I would like to see someone model the burning Enterprise from ST3. Make THAT light up! [}:)]

Ask and you shall recieve

Yes, it is very expensive, but if you don’t know electornics, to me it is worth it. Check out the videos on the site to see all of what it will do. In the end it looks almost exactly like the studio model. I don’t think you will pay less unless you do it all yourself and even then it may not necessarily be cheap.

This also would be cool: http://www.voodoofx.com/fiberfx.htm

Scroll down to the torpedo effect and watch the movie.
