oh yeah just a question or two. 1/35 is equal to what in choo choo train sizes? O? G? XYZ? What’s the rubber hose for, beating yourself when the model maddness strikes?
Closest would be #1 Gauge, at 1/32.
I wonder if this one ever got built…was searching for references on Leopold through Google and stumbled across this…I have the Dragon version and opted for it over the Trumpeter because of cost only…the Trump 1/35 was nearly twice the cost and with two bases and 1100+ pieces I can see why. [:D]
Wow, good luck. Don’t forget to say thanks to your girlfriend, she got you into som deep ****!!!
Don’t know about G or the other, but O gauge is basically 1/48.
Ray you are in for one HUGE build, I just finished mine
Mine is still looking at me in its half finished state, and I can’t find the courage to finish it.
It’s a daunting beast, no doubt there monrad…can you imagine doing a GB on this thing? I’ve yet to open the box on mine simply because I know what will happen if I do. I need to have a nice long space of time to appreciate it, work with all the detail, etc. In the meantime, I feel your pain and hope you can bring your monster to life. [;)]
DANG Tigerman you beat me to it… I was thinking the same thing…!!!
Good luck on the the leo Ray…
Hey Kenneth…take a look at the timestamp on the original post…[:D]
First of all, look at the date on this post! 7 years, 2 months ago. I’m finally almost finished with this beast.

What?!! No locomotive?? [:D] Seriously, looks like a really fine build. but your photos have a color cast. Perhaps check the white balance setting on your camera. Given the time and effort that you’ve put into the model, show it off in it’s best light… (err, pun intended [:P])
Edit: looking at your last shot, it appears that for your photos, you used flash in a background of incandescent lights. Problem is that the flash was not strong enough to illuminate the entire model. If you can, why not some outdoor photos in natural light. A shaded area will work fine.

Good to see an old (or compared to my age- ancient) thread revisited! How does the kit go together? Is it pretty smooth to assemble?
Also, does the kit come with enough railroad track for the turntable and the two full pieces at a 90 degree angle?
She’ll look fine when she’s done.
Njal,
Hello neighbor! I live about 50 miles down the road from you. In answer to your questions, the kit went together very easily. The only problems were some very delicate parts and the mind numbing tedium of assembling the two flatcars. They have around 400 parts each. The kit comes with plenty of track/base for the 90 degree display. All that’s left to do is a final coat of Panzer Gray, about 10 small parts and the decals.
Don,
Believe it or not, I DO have a locomotive. I have the Trumpeter 1/35th BR-52 in the stash but right now I’m tied up with Trumpeter’s 1/350th USS Lexington.
As for the photos, the lighting in my modeling room is florescent and yes, some of the photos were taken with the camera’s flash. It’s a Canon G-9 with 12.5 Mpix res. I’m still learning to use it as I’m transitioning from film to digital

Good to see you get this finished. What a brute.
OT, I recall alot of the names from when I first joined up. They pretty much high-tailed it after a couple of years. Sad to see them gone, we had many good times.
She looks good. I did the Dragon kit last year, will be getting the Trump kit early next year. I too have the 52, its still sitting in the box. I was thinking of a huge 2’x8’ railyard dio, hooking the 52 up to either the Leo or another Morser in railyard setting, a few sets of tracks, maybe a shop too. I like the way yours came out…[t$t]
Thanks for the kind words, Brutus. You may already be aware of this site but, it is where I found the most information about the K5 gun.

1/35th rocks !! It also helped when I built both of my Morsers. Trump also has a good figure set for the Leo as well, I bought on but they, kind, fell by the wayside…
Get brave and do the Dora, you will need a garage to display tho…
Sherman,
If you’ll finance it, I’ll build it! ! ! LOL! Actually, I did think about it but, around 20 years ago there was a neighborhood stationary/hobby shop going out of business and I bought most of their plastic kits for 25 cents on the dollar. I won’t be able to build all of 'em if I live to be 100 years old. That’s a pretty good possibility, too since both of my parents are alive and well in their 90’s.
All the best
