Latin American AF GB recruiting announcement

OK folks, I had earlier said that I would ramrod this GB and had originally planned to do so last month… but it sort of fell between the cracks for me so here we go…

To give it a little more Latin theme I will put the start date to co incide with Dia De Los Muertos on November 1st, 2013 and an ending date of May 5, 2014, AKA Cinco De Mayo.

Any Scale, any aircraft subject belonging to a Latin American Air Arm (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc.) from any era. Including such Latin Carribean nations as Cuba, etc.

Crossovers are allowed.

Builds less than 50% along are allowed.

“What If?” markings are allowed.

We originaly had sufficient interest here to get at least 5 other folks onboard. So please sound off for those who want to partake and I will go set up the Thread in the GB forum.

Lots of subject choices here to choose from, so lets do it!

Hey SP, please put me down with a Tamiya 1/48th FG-1D/F4U-1D Corsair with Aztec Decals for the Fuerza Aerea Salvadorena / Salvadoran Air Force from the 100 Hours War aka Football/Soccer War.

Not sure how fast I’ll be able to move since I’ve got lots of other stuff I need to finish but I have the decals and I have the kit - now all I need is the time!

You got it Gamera. I am in a similar situation- I have a few kits that will work, and the decals for them. If time is an issue early on I will extend the finish line. I just want to get this thing started since I have already postponed it once.

C’mon folks… lots of subject areas, the Football Wars, the 80s wars in Central America (excluding US aircraft), Bay of Pigs, Falklands War (excluding British subjects), WWII Latin American Air Arms, Venezuelan F-16s… Ecuadoran Kfirs… Columbian Mirages… Cuban MiGs… Nicaraguan Hinds…

Si Senor- I have just the thing.

Lockheed SP-2H Neptune 2-P-112 of the Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina, COAN; Hasegawa 1/72 with decals that El Jere gave me.

Bienvenidos GM! Now we have three here…

In case anybody can’t tell, I am thinking of doing the GB badge based off of the Disney Three Caballeros birds. After all, the Mexican Rooster, “Pancho Pistolas”, was the mascot of Escadron 201, Aguilas Aztecas, which fought with the 5th AF in the PI in WWII.

Hey Stik- I’m in with a Cuban Mig-21Bis with all the Brassin Goodies wearing Aztec’s Decals.

Ohhhhh, very nice! Welcome aboard!

Hey guys, sign me up!! Not sure what I’ll make yet. I’ve actually got a few in the stash to pick from, so I have a decision to make. But it will be something 1/48th for sure.

Excellent! Another recruit! OK, You are in!

Good deal!! Hopefully I can be a big kid and make a decision and let y’all know in the next two weeks or so before the 1st.

OK Gents, I have a thread started in the Group Build Forum with the roster so far…

My subject was flying forward air sweep covering a flight of C-130s taking troops out to Puerto Argentina on the Islands, looking for aircraft on its forward looking radar.

The Hercs turned back because of the airstrip being under naval bombardment, but the Neptune pocked up Sheffield and I think Coventry. She was ordered to linger and seem to look for survivors of the sinking of the General Belgrano.

The Super Etendard strike was quickly put together and the Neptune lingered for several hours while the jets traversed.

Sounds like fun, put me on the roster please. Not sure what yet, but I will come up with something.

Theuns

I have a 1/144 scale P-51 I’d like to build in El Salvador Air Force markings of the Soccer War.Please add me to the group build. Thanks!

Ok, gentlemen, you both have been added to the roster.

I may require the occasional kick in the tail, but I’m in. Cleaning a few kits off my bench right now, will sort out WHAT I’m building shortly.

Excellent! Great to have you aboard Vance!

It will be nice to see your participation again Vance.

Yeah, haven’t been around much at all this summer. (wait, summer?? It’s OCTOBER NOW!!!)

Well it sure feels like summer here today… supposed to be in the upper 80s in the inland hot spots today…
