Hi Guys!
Not been on here for a while now, but i’ve got some modelling done over here in the UK.
I also belong to the Airfix.com forums and they have occasional group Builds, the deal is that we all build the same model and share our experiences and/or problems. Only stipulation is that it is an Airfix kit that is in the current catalgue and is easily available.
The last one we did was the Westland Navy Lynx HMA.8 in 1/72.
I built it with the Airwaves detail set and scratchbuilt a tail fold section and folded the main rotors into the stowed position with scratchbuilt rotor stay rods.
I made the FOD covers from foil and the RBF tags are from an old Verlinden sheet.
Take a look at my pics and any questions you have, don’t hesitate to ask. I also have some in progress pics too if anybody is interested.
I hope you enjoy looking at my model as much as I enjoyed building it!

Nice job on an interesting bird. Can’t make up my mind which feature I like best; I’m
torn between the 'nose art" and the fold up job. The Lynx is my favorite British helicopter.
Anyone know if is available in 1/48 scale?
good looking build
Great job on the build. Bryan
A fine chopper, I realy like the fold job on it, thanks for the pics…
Very detailed build, mikeew. That is some amazing detail for a scale that I personally find to be pretty daunting/frustrating. Just out of curiosity, is there a 1/48 kit of the Lynx?
Very excellent build. May I ask where the cool nose-art came from? Kit decals, aftermarket, or home-made? Thanks. Been thinking about doing my own, but am concerned about losing all the resolution of the picture at such a small size.
That is a gorgeous build!! The tail fold detail is excellent!!
AH1Wsnake: I have had great success using Microsoft paint believe it or not…I scaled down a map of the city I live in for the MFD screen on my Hind, it turned out cool as hell!!
No problem! They are kit decals, i was just lucky mine were in register! The roundels were from my spares box though as the kit ones were too dark .
Thanks for all the kind words everyone, appreciate it.
Mike
Thanks LemonJello!
There is a 1/48 Lynx ,made by Belcher Bits, its not injected though and needs some modelling experience as it is a resin kit. look here: http://r.gire.free.fr/vos%20maquettes/christophe%20marie/lynx.htm
