Well it took me awhile but i finally got it finished this is the DML 1/35 Tiger I 3 n 1 kit for those of you that are just getting into armor i used milliput putty to do the zimm and used Tamiya Dark yellow, red brown and dark green for the camo i used red brown on the tracks and misted flat blk over them and highlighted with steel to show wear i also gave it a vary thin mist coat of red brown and blk over that i sprayed another very thined ratio of blk red brown and buff to give it some weathering and followed up with chalk dust and flat clear.
Good lookin’ cat ya got there.
How was the kit to build?Got one in my stash that will hopefully be on the bench soon. Thanks for the picts!!
Well this was my first real armor build and its definetly not fot the begginer, now for your asnwer all in all it went together great besides having a worped hull and the instructions are confusing but besides that its a great kit just figure iut what model tiger you are going to build the istruction kind of color code the late command, late tiger and so on.
Good looking Tiger. Nice camo. I always dread painting camo myself, have to ad-lib you know. Not sure of the color under the chipped zimmerit, should be red-oxide primer. Thans for sharing the pics.
Nice one … Tiger I … long live the tiger …
Nice looking kitty you got there, great camo on it.
Great work. It’s been a pleasure to watch this unfold.
Hey smokin’,
That is a “smokin” Tiger there. Maybe its the photo, but did you zim over the gunners sight hole(s) on the mantlet? The command should have no coax, and on the commander/gunner side of the gun mantlet there should be either a binocular or monocular set of peep holes. Maybe its there, my eyes are not what they used to be. Great model…
Steve
Congratulations on your “first real armor build”.
It came out very well!
The overall presentation is just great.
The zimm is very convincing.
I like the way you have made the zimm chip off, my understanding is that the material was ceramic and bonded well to the surface, so maybee the underlying colour would have been the before zimm or red primer rather then grey.
A blackwash for the traction wheels?
Been watching progress with great interest, keep them coming Smokey
Yea probebly made a few mistaks what is a coax and yes there are 2 holes but just notices ones cover so ill fox it thanks all for your input i apreciate it.
Nice job on the zimmerit.I usually paint the chipped parts gray myself. I don’t why, I just do. Great job on the star antenna! They always give me fits.
Thanks for the great comments.
Hey smokin,
The “COAX” Is short for co-axial machine gun. On the Tiger, this weapon mounts adjacent to the main gun on the loaders side and fires through the port in the mantlet. It is aimed and fired by the gunner, and is serviced by the loader. The command version does not have a coax machine gun, because the space is occupied by extra radio equipment. To build a correct “command” version, you need to use the mantlet provided in the kit which has no hole, or putty or plug the hole.
Steve
I filled the gun hole up. but thats nice to know thwe next time
