I think the one quote that sums it all up is this “No way that the new Gripen will be able to fill the photogenic gap that is left when the last Viggens will end their flying careers by the end of 2005.” Shame to see it go. Thanx for sharing it with us.

Is there a 1/48 kit in plastic of this unique warbird? That would be a nice addition to the collection, I think. Great link with striking photos, too!

The only 1/48 kit of the Viggen is an old Esci kit that was recently reissued (unchanged) by Airfix. There’s a build up article about that kit over on Hyperscale.

It is sad to see the Viggen go, one of the trully distinctive shapes in Aviation.

As i’ve stated in previous posts, I’ve always had a soft spot for modern Swedish jets. Very cool looking planes, with some neat color schemes.
