Last of the F104 Starfighters Some additional info on the F 104S ASA-M

Here is my recently completed Hasegawa F 104 S in the Italian Low Vis scheme and markings. I used Gunze and Tamiya acrylics, with the decals from the excellent Sky Italian Starfighters sheet. The only changes I made to the kit were the addition of the Aires cockpit and fairing over the cannon on the port side. I hope you like this one.

Wow! Very nicely done! I’ve not seen a F-104 finished as well as that in a long time, that finish looks spot-on to me. A real pleasure to look at, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments guys I appreciate it. I should have mentioned it’s the Hasegawa 1:48th kit, that is mainly the resonefor the photos beeing further away from thekit since it’s soooo long. I will take some close ups ofthe cockpit and otherareas before I do an article for it.

Yep, Anthony, that’s one beaut of the old Aluminum Death Tube, always has been, always will be my favorite fighter, and I agree with Upnorth: who would have thought the one Century Series fighter the USAF considered too impractical to keep in the inventory (though compared with most of the others, it was a real bargain to operate, hour for hour)., would have been used all over the world right up to the present day.

Hey Anthony,
Hasegawa made a “S” model in 48th scale?? I thought that it was only made in 72nd.
Did you do any conversions on her?? Whats the kits #?
