Literally finished a few hours ago. Seeing as how there’s only 8 hours left in '08, this is probably my last model of the year. [;)]

The Sukhoi Su-5 was the Russian answer to the Me 262. It contained a rudimentary jet engine along with a traditional piston prop. The compressor of the jet was driven by the piston engine, and could only be engaged for about 10 minutes at a time. However, when this “booster” was engaged, it could match the speeds of the Me 262. Work was abandoned after the War with the influx of captured German pure jet engines.
The kit is 1/72, and is a Wings Vacuform. It went together nice enough, without too many major problems. The prop is a modifed P-47 prop, the exhausts came from a Tamyia P-51, and the wheels came from a Minicraft 1/144 B-29. Decals came from the generous dontations of two other modelers, for which I’m thankful.
So… what do you think?
