Large-scale MiG-25 kits?

Can one of your recommend the all-round best large-scale MiG-25 kit currently out there? I would assume that would mean 1/48th, though someone may have made one in 1/32nd (that would be huge).

Thanks.

Larry,
I believe currently it is the Revell-Germany MiG-25 FOXBAT A (cat #4589). Its a rebox of a kit that has been around for a while. Knowledgable MiG fans will tell you there are some problems with it, but it is the only one out there. Telling you more than you asked…NEOMEGA has released a MiG-25 cockpit to spruce up the Revell-German 25.

good luck and maybe Trumpeteer will hook us up in time.

Thanks Bwog. It’s 1/48th? What’s wrong with it?

Problem is that it dates back to the late 70’s so due to the Cold War and lack of proper references at the time the kit has some understandable issues surrounding its accuracy.

I took a look at it in the box at my local LHS and, right or not, thats one impressive model waiting to happen. One of the guys at the shop says its surprizingly good considering it came from a Western country during the Cold war. He served in the Czech air force for a number of years and had the chance to see Foxbats on more than a few occaisions during the Socialist years.

He says the shapes are right and from all he remembers it captures the look of the bird quite well.

Wow one of those in 1/32 would be awesome , just a shame theres only one kit of this bird

That would be simply gigantic, wouldn’t it? IIRC it’s much bigger than an F-15.

By the looks of what was in the box, the 1/48 Foxbat would be just slightly smaller in all directions than a 1/32 F-15 when fully assembled.

I’m not too sure to be honest , I know the 1/32 SU27 Flankers bigger that the F4’s I have ,
be interesting to find out though , love to see the wife’s face [(-D][(-D]

I had a 1/48 (I think… it may have been 1/32) MiG-25 a while back and I think it was made by Lindberg. If you find it… don’t get it! It was quite literally THE WORST kit I have ever tried to build. Nothing fit, there were ejection pin marks all over and the detail was worse than most 1/144 scale kits. Just thought I would rant about my experiences with that one.
[soapbox]

Anyway, good luck. Should be an interesting subject to build.

I concur with your assessment of the Lindberg kit… I think mine wound up as a target drone out in my backyard!!

I read somewhere that certain areas of the plane were armored to repel 20mm ballistics… but one hit from a Double XX Buckshot round tore mine all to pieces!!! [:D] It was good to see it go!

I’d like to see a nice Mig-25 and Mig-31 kit under my tree one Christmas morning, but Santa just keeps dropping the ball… or is it because I’m being too naughty? [:O]

Good subject, thanks! [:)]

Take care,
Frank
