Nice work! Thank you for sharing.

Looks good to me. Good job on the conversion.

Very very nice. Luckyly i never had to go in one of these in Iraq, but used to love being flung around the back of them in Ulster in the early 90’s. They get slagged off in the news, but they were a great bit of kit when we first got them.

What’s the story behind this vehicle?

I’m not sure what to make of it.

thanks mate… [:)]

It is basically the British version of an uparmored HMMWV:

“The Land Rovers are fortified with armour to offer the troops protection against explosions and ballistics, they also have electronic counter-measures (ECMs) - designed to detect roadside bombs before they explode.”

More info here.

thanks mate… im still learnin a lot to made this one [:)]

thanks mate…

i wish here in indonesia we got this defender snatch,

i read in some articles on the internet that the snatch have a low secure protection on their armor, isnt it?

cuz i know this natch only from the books and the internet, never had a chance to see the real one…

cheers,

dpm [:)]

wow…

thx for the information mate [:)]

in my old military land rover books (“modern military land rover” - by:james taylor& bob morison), once i read they call it the Defender CAV, manufactured by courtaulds, on the defender 110 chassis base. in the early era it was used by the british army in Ulster. and i guess in the late decade of the 2000 it was used on the iraq. (please correct if im wrong [:)] )

cheers,

dpm

We first got the Snatch when i was in Londonderry in about 92. The vehicle they replaced had been in use since the 70’s. Though they are armoured, its not top rate armour and they were only used in the softer areas in Ulster. Another vehicle, the APV, which had better armour was used in the harder areas. The main advantage of the Snatch was its speed.

There has been alot of debate over here about their use in Iraq and Afghanistan. And i think for the most part they have now been withdrawn from the front line.

wow…

thanks for sharing mate [:)]

it gives us more background of the vehicles…

awesome… [:)]

cheers,
