Does anybody know if the 1:48 Lanc. Tamyia’s selling now has all the turrets included? I was E-mailing Belcher bits (http://belcherbits.mondenet.com) 'cause they do lots of cool stuff like improved cowlings for the lanc and I wanted to know if he’s ever thought about doing a bomb bay so those of use not wanting to fight it out on Ebay for the old kit would be able to build the standard bomber. He E-mailed me back saying I was the second person to ask in two days but was thought it the turrets weren’t there it’ld less useful to make a standard bomb bay. Would there be lots of people like me interest in that being avaliable?
I built this kit a lont time ago but it got smashed while moving bases! If my memory is correct,it does have all the turrets & a posable bomb bay.
However, the were varients of the Lanc (which,i’m proud to say,my Dad flew!) which had the torrets removed, bits added, taken away.so reserch the one you want to build & go from there.Personnaly,i’d build the BBMF one.

The Grandslam version doesn’t have the bomb bay for the standard bomber. It does have the turrets etc for all positions though. They supply two sets, the painted and the unpainted versions.
G’day,
This was the Tamiya 48 scale ‘Grand Slam’ Lancaster [the current one with the prop motors], converted back to a B I/III which has a resin Bomb Bay conversion fitted, this model was built to a contracted requirement for the RAAF’s Officer Training School [in Melbourne Australia], the resin was done by Scale Magic, a small goup, who are considering to release two conversions for the Lancaster 48 ‘Grand Slam’ kit in both the B I/III standard and the B I/III special [Dam Buster]
The pic of my finished Lancaster is NOT that of the 617 Sqn Dam Buster but of the preserved Lancaster in the AWM Canberra as AJ-G ‘George’ an RAAF unit aircraft, which is what the RAAF wanted their model to replicate.
Awesome, thanks for the info, does that group making bomb bays happen to have a website?
tomanyslurpees,
Scale Magic can be contacted on this email scalemagic2004@yahoo.com
The website is down at the moment being revised and should be online in early Jan '05.
Hope this helps you.
I built the “Lanc” back when it was available at a more human price. Back the it was B I and BIII versions. It had all of the turrets and a large radar housing underneath. The last issue I saw was the motorized version at $122.00. Noway Jose on paying that much for a hunk of plastic.
Thanks again for the info
I saw it on hobbyeasy for about €50 - that’s the grand slam version
