Here are some pics of the model i’m working on right now.

It is an old tamiya KV1E with eduard pe and fruiltracks. Weld beads are made with streched sprue.

This is sure to be a real beauty once finished! Judging by the paint job on the turret I think it will be an excellent model. I’ll be building Trumpeters new KV-1 Simplified turret soon(once UPS delivers it), and it looks like I’ve got a little competition! (:D)

I am a helo guy, being a flight medic by trade, but love armor, having spent the majority of my career with the Marines. Can you explain using the stretched sprue for weld seams? It “seams” that you just lay it in and then finish the surface. Am I close?

I’m a huge KV-nut, i absolutely love them [:D]

I use the new Tankograd books for reference. I have the full series (KV1 parts 1+2 and KV2, there seem to be coming more) and they are absolutely great!

The welds are made by streching sprue over a flame, and i glue them in place with a solvent called MEK. This softens the plastic, and you can shape it with the point of a knife or a needle.

I’m not part of this groupbuild, (in fact i just finished the sherman i posted in here for a groupbuild) but i’m building this to put in a little diorama i have planned [;)]

Looks good Jan. I love the tracks. I too have one of the newer Trump kits and am looking forward to getting it going. You should get this into the GB. It will set the bar over there. Are you going to do a winter scheme?
