KV-1 in German Service Vignette

I am about 99% complete with this vignette I’ve been working on and am pretty proud of the results and wanted to share.

It’s a Trumpeter Pz756(r) KV-1 with Dragon Figures holding Tamiya weapons. The tank is OOB and painted in Tamiya acrylics and weathers with oils, acrylics, pigments and pencils.

I am a poor figure painter but am happy with my results to date as these guys are the best looking I have acheived to date

The vignette is a split pea and spackle road with garden twine grasses and bits from a craft store and grasses from the yard. I weathered the road using oils and regular dirt and used paint and pigments to simulate the crunched pavement as the tank passes - from memory when dad used to bring me to his office , a Leopard I

I only have the insides of the tracks to let to grunge up a tad as they are a bit flat.

Here we go

Looks Great!

I’ve wondered what this tank would look lke built-up. You’ve done a great job on it, sincerely! I think it looks awesome!

The vignette is cool, too. Can’t see anything I wouldn’t have done on it; the figures are well done as well!

Wow, I like this. The figures are a bit too shiny and the headlights look too “new” but, still; it looks good to me overall.

The split peas turned out really well too. Way to go!

Hi Frank,

Nice little scene you’ve created.

If I could offer just a little suggestion; since you still have a little track work to complete perhaps you might touch the track teeth as well as the teeth on the drives with a little graphite/silver to show some polish from the movement.

Take care,

Rick

Thanks for the feedback guys, it’s always appreciated and remembered

The figures do look shiny as I haven’t flat coated the tank or them yet until I finish the tracks off.

Rick, both the drives and teeth will be touched up as well as better definition on the tracks and some ‘weight’ to them with a build up of crud (for lack of a better word).

Frank

Thanks for the feedback Doog and btw, thanks for the tip - the sides of the tank under the fenders were done from a post you did on a halftrack build a couple of months ago - I used several shades of oil that were then streaked and pulled down using spirits and then powdered with pigments - it worked like a charm and looks fantastic.

These Trumpeter KVs are some of the best kits I have ever built and I recommend them to anyone looking for a good build.

Frank

Very well done, the ground work looks fantastic. As for the tank itself, awsome painting and weathering so far.

I agree,Trumpeter has come out with some great kits in the past couple of years and well worth the price.

Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Rob

Nice work! Nothing to add to what’s already been pointed out. The split pea idea for cobblestones is a neat one…just don’t try to make soup out of your vignette in the future and you should be ok. [8-] [;)]

Looking great…Very well done…
