Krupp Protze Information

Hi all,

Just wondered if the German Krupp Protze truck was ever used in a maintance roll in WW2?
I have an idea for a dio of a Tiger under repair and would like to include the truck in it.I have gone through all my information on German WW2 vehicles but can’t find much on the Krupp.

Any help on this greatfully recieved.

The Krupp Protze doesn’t appear on the list of vehicles typically found in a Panzer Werkstattkompanie nor on the list of vehicles for a Versorgungskompany (Supply Company), at least not in the tables I have, which are rather detailed, but are for a typical Panzer Regiment of 1944. There is also no record of an official variant of this vehicle to be used for this purpose, which was normally used as a light personnel carrier and light AT, AA or artillery tractor. So this is not one of it’s normal duties.

That said, who is to say that one would not be pressed into service in a different role, due to shortages of the normal vehicles which would be used in this manner. Your call…

Production of the Krupp light truck was terminated in 1942. It’s primary function of towing the PAK 36 left it too light for other functions when the PAK 38 came into numbers replacing the earlier gun.

Cheer’s for the info…now I’v got my hands on the kit what you say makes sence[:)]
