Koster models Dornier Do217

Does anyone have any experiance of this kit? I have just purchased one from ebay to finish as the example captured by the allies for my Captured aircraft group. I am looking forward to seing this model built but it will be a while off.

Photos will be posted when i recieve the item.

Is that Koster as in Koster Aero Enterprises ? KAE makes conversion kits to convert the Promodeler 217E to the J or N version night fighter or the 217E to the K2 or M11 bomber version. I was not aware they sold an entire 217 kit. Bill Koster, the owner, did the masters for the Promodeler Do 217E.

I do mean Koster Aero Enterprises. It was listed as a conversion kits with the kit to use as well as the conversion. I will post some photos when i get it.

OK, I didn’t want you to be disappointed if all you got was the conversion but you obviously have it in control ! Both of the conversion sets are nicely done. Reviews of both sets can be found at Swanny’s Models http://www.swannysmodels.com/index.html and a build of the M11 version can be found here http://www.swannysmodels.com/Do217M.html

I actually just began the conversion, it is a very nie kit and the only problems that I have seen so far are a wing that does not match up on the trailing edge and a large hole in one of the wings.

Is there any chance of seing some photos? It will be a while before i start building mine so i am interested to see how others find it.

I have just revieved my kit and i will post some photos later but it is all looking good.

Sure, I will post picks maybe this weekend. I am building mine as a K-2, The kit is very well done and the plastic is relativly thick and sturdy but nothing like injection molded. The wings went together with no problem, those start when you begin with the nose section. The instructions are a little vauge and it took a tone of dry fitting to get the two sidewalls and floor in the proper position. At the moment I have one half of the nose mounted, I hope to get the other attached over this weekend. If you have the N or J kit, your life should be much easier because you do not have to do do the whole new nose.

I have been looking at the instructions and i am a bit lost on how the nose bits go together so any photos would be apreciated.

Well getting the first cockpit half on is deceivingly easy, the second is a real challenge. It seams that the pilots seat is to big to fit in and the radio operators seat is just to weak to stay in, I can either get the parts to somewhat fit, there are still major gaps and parts fall out or no parts fall out and I cant get the cockpit halves together

Thank you for those photos. That does help. I have a complete Vacuum form Dornier Do217 so ths could be interesting. It will be a while before i start work on it. My first vac form model is in the stash but i wont be starting it for a while.
