This is an area that has interested me for a while now. I have a few Sabres I’d like to complete and I got to thinking that there is not an active GB on this topic, so I’ve initiated one over on the Group Build post called “The Forgotten War GB”.
To any and all with an interest in this area, please feel free to join. This is open to all subjects, not only aircraft.
Best suggestion I’ve heard today…I’ve got a few that will qualify in my stash as well…I need another excuse to do another NMF aircraft! Even if one of them might be a 1:18 F-86 I am refinishing.
Since I was stationed at K-13 (Suwon AB, Korea) the checkered tailed F-86s hold dear to my heart. I guess this will also mean that I watch the movie “The Hunters” again!
Good flick! I picked it up on DVD along (two box set) with “The Immortal Sergeant” for $10 at Sam’s Club. I hadn’t seen either movie and they both are good.
It was funny to listen to the way they pronounced Suwon and Seoul in the movie…it cracked me up!
Hey thanks, I remember seeing that movie when I was a kid, but never knew the name. I specifically remember it because one of the pilots was named Corona and we had a Toyota Corona at the time.
As far as the group build if I can make some good progress on the two I’m in, I’ll jump into this one. I find Korea to be a very interesting and slightly odd part of our history. Also an exciting time for military technology with jets and helicopters still very much in an evolutionary stage and the military leadership still not quite sure what to make of much of the new equipment.
Count me in. I’m building a trio of AC which operated off the Bon Homme Richard, 1950-1951. I’m currently building a REV F4U-4. next is a ROG A-1H converted to either an AD-3 or-4, and a REV F9F-5 converted to a -2. All are 1/48 scale.
The one i’m aware of is an OOP Modelcraft kit in 1/48. For some reason I thought I recalled a Hobbycraft offering, but I can’t find reference to one so maybe I’m wrong. Or just mistaken.[:D]
