I just visited a KB-Toy outlet store and found a Sukhoi Su-35 in 1/48 scale, along with an F-16A in prototype markings and a bunch of aircraft carrier and battleship kits, all for $8.95 per kit!
Well the only thing I “needed” was the Su-35, as I already have everything else from other manufacturers.
I have heard bad things about Kitech on this board, but figured for $9, it was worth the risk. I opened the box, and much to my surprise, it appeared to be about the same quality kit as the Trumpeter Su-27 I built a while ago. Interestingly, it almost appears to have been made by the same molds as the Su-27 with the necessary modifications, including canards that are needed to make a 35.
I really don’t have any references for the Su-35. Can anybody tell me anything about the accuracy of this kit? Or anything I need to do to make it more accurate? If it has crappy fit like the Trump Su-27, thats no big deal, it just makes it more of a challenge to build.
Any info on this kit or aircraft would be greatly appreciated!
my brother in law bought the A10 from Kitech and had the same problem. Never bothered finishing it in fact. My biggest local source of model kits (also a toy store) seems to be replacing all their decent kits (Hasegawa/Italeri/Academy) with the Kitech range.
Oh well, they’re cheap and bound to keep you busy, which is what hobbies are for… Have fun! [:)]
I’ve built a 1/48 spitfire from kitech and I thought it was a piece of juck. I woundn’t think that trumpeter is that bad for the price. But I guess it is. [%-)]
Thanks for the links avgass. For now it’s going in my stash of 50+ kits that are waiting to be built. Sometime when I feel ready to be abused [banghead]I’ll dig it out and give it a try [:D]
With Trumpeter it’s sometimes a hit or why did i waste my $ on this @<%^*# piece of doggy doo, But here recently their putting out some pretty darn good stuff[party]
