I’m starting a Kitech V-22 Osprey. I’ve never heard of this manufacturer however, it doesn’t look too bad. We’ll see.
I did want to know, does anyone know what the Osprey’s cockpit color should be?

Does anyone know? Haze grey, Ghost Grey, green, yellow, pink???
Most of the cockpit is black. I like the MM aircraft interior black. I think most of the surround parts are grey (neutral grey is usually a safe bet) and the panels with switches are black. If you google MV-22 cockpit you can get a pretty good idea what they look like.

Steve I will look around in my picture files and see if I can find the pictures I took of the Osprey cockpit at the airshow in Mt. Home a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly it is mostly black with a liner that is a dark grey color.

What I need is pics of the seats if you have any. I’m having a hard time finding them.
The seats are pretty much the same as an H-60. Black cushion with the stroke bars.

Do you know it the windshield is tinted?
If it is, it is a very sight tint that I didn’t notice the two times I was able to set foot inside of one. When I get around to my V-22 I don’t plan to tint.

The best pics I’ve seen, it seems to have the slightest hint of a tint. I’ll throw a drop of black into the “Future” treatment. I’ll see how that works.
The kit did not come with any pilot figures, and I wanted to display it in flight, so I liberated two German pilots from my 1/72 BV 141, and modified their flight suits to work…I hope. I tried to do the best I could on the interior, but being black, or very dark grey, it’s hard to distinguish any detail. I dry brushed the instrument panel and interior with an Aggressor Grey to try to highlight the details (which aren’t bad at all for this kit), and made some seat cushions and belts out of masking tape, but with the “liberated”, time traveling pilots in their seats, I’m not sure you be able to see the work.
With the office in it’s place, the fuselage fit is not good, so I’ll have to do some trimming to get everything to fit.
The more I research this subject, on you tube and such, the more I like it. It’s a really cool plane…er…helicopter…er…tiltrotor thingy.

Well here’s an up date for the V-22
I got the office installed with my pilots. The fit worked out, however I had to cut off some of the aligning pins because the holes were missing on the other side. I had to do some trimming to the cockpit to get it to fit. The cockpit was just slightly too large.
The canopy is blurry, I’m not sure what to do about it. Amy ideas?

Some buffing and a dip in Future might do the trick. Is the cloudiness on surface or throughout the plastic, can you tell?

I can’t really tell. I’m going to try toothpaste, Simoniz, and the Tamiya Polishing Compound if the first two don’t work.

Just a bit of background. It appears to be a boxing of the Hobbycraft kit (from mid-late 80’s?), and has also appeared in an “Idea” brand boxing.
It’s a pre-production aircraft, so there’s quite a bit of work to do if you want to represent an operational bird.
What are the main differences to make it an operational aircraft?
I’ve used Meguires PlastX before on the canopy of the Hasegawa F-16D, there was a rub spot that was on the canopy when I opened the box. After a treatment with the Meguires it came out crystal clear.
Here’s an update.
Realizing the is not the operational version of the V-22, I’m not going to bother with any of the extensive mods that would be required to bring it up to present day. I’m going ahead and building OTB, and will purchase the newer version from Italari at some future date.
The kit has gone together very quickly, and the parts have matched very well. Despite the fact that it is a Hobbycraft remake and depicts the 80’s version, I like the kit. I will be displaying the rotoctaft in flight as the engines nacelles lack the detail to show otherwise.

They had a V-22 perform for us the most recent airshow at Luke AFB near Phoenix. Weird-sounding thing!
