Kit Comparison

I rounded out a paint order with some 1/72 kits, mostly Revell AG. For giggles I added some other brands for comparison; Airfix, Hasewaga and Italieri.
Holy Hand Grenades! I wouldn’t use the Airfix and Hasewaga Tigers for doorstops! I felt like I needed a shower after opening them. The Italieri were both T-34s and looked OK at first glance.
Are these little horrowshows indicative of the other kits by those companies? I thought, Hasewaga at least had a good rep. I think I may stick with Tamiya and Rev AG.

Airfix 1/72 armor may be as much as 40 years old and Hasegawa is only a bit newer, dating to the early to mid 70’s. The other kits are relatively new to the market.

As good as Hasegawa’s aircraft kits are, their armour kits are atrocious. I don’t build much in the way in braille scale, but I do like Esci, Revell of Germany and the new Dragon kits.

The (recent) Revell AG releases have been the best for a while. Dragon has come out with a bunch over the last two months (they are releasing both built ups and kits). Some of them are pretty nice, the instructions leave a little to be desired, but the detail is pretty good. And Trumpeter has just gotten some on the market that come with pe grilles for the engine deck. They are $13+ compared to $8-9+ for Dragon and Revell. I haven’t seen in the box of the Trumpeters, yet.

From what I’ve seen, your judgement of the others you mentioned is pretty much right on.

I hate Revell, but check my sig piccy. Nuff said.
