King tiger stuff

I ordered a king tiger ( bastonge) and i was wondereing what color scheme i should use, and what is zimmermit and how do you make it.

you could do it the ambush cammo like on the box
and zimmerit was a paste aplyed to the tank to stop magnetic mines sticking to the tank

thanks

there are different ways to make Zimerit on a model
one way is to use the 2 part Tamiya putty and the Tamiya zimerit tools
another way is to use Miliput, roll it out to a thin sheet and use the zim tools or a roller (you could use a crown of a watch)
then there putty and a scewdriver
theres loads of ways but the easiest way is to get aftermarket
resin or PE
there should be ways to do zimerit on here http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=13

Welcome sirch. Lucky guy to be getting that kit. I jumped the gun and bought a henschel without all the am goodies. Looks like Jon covered you with the zim notes. Please share your build if possible.

Greetings, sirch,
Here are a few links to info about Zimmerit and how to do it…and a few other interesting links…hope they help…

by the way you might not have to put zimerit on your Kingtiger, some of them didnt have Zim added
and The Kingtiger 222 dosnt look like it had Zimerit

If you wanna do the zimmerit, do it the traditional way using putty or Miliput or whatsoever. I don’t recommend PE zim because I have Tamiya’s Panzer IV with PE zim in box. It looked great when newly finished, but when time went by the PE zim part broke away and opened gap between the PE parts and the plastic hull. Very difficult to correct.

Have just put this link up for Jason - my first attempt at zim and the easy method I found
