king tiger camo: Ohrdruf 1944

hello everyone,

Im painting my king tiger the Ohrdruf 1944 camo. (This kit is the dragon 1/35 6303 kingtiger). I know the yellow colour but, i don’t know the colour of the green stripes in the tamiya paint range is. I know it is model master paint 1712 thats the green there, but what would the colour be in the tamiya paint be?

I’m not sure if your using acrylics, but if you do, this is how I would go.

I would suggest using Field grey XF65, or Olive green XF58.

Tamiya kits recommend Dark green XF61, however I have found this to be far too dark.

Another option is Gunze / Hobby color Olive green H405. You can use the Tamiya thinner on this line as well.

I personally like Vallejo Reflective green and it’s what I currently use.

Everyone has their personal preference and opinion on whats more accurate.

Late war I’d go with XF 58.

Field Grey is basically Tamiya’s color for “Panzer Green”–WWII German armor green.
