King Tiger Ardennes question

Can anyone tell me if the colour description for Tank #204 from Kampfgruppe Peiper found in the Tamiya King tiger: Ardennes Front is accurate. They show the tank in ambush pattern cam. Was this correct? I just read “The Devil’s Adjutant” a book about jochem Peiper and I would like to make sure this tiger is done correctly. Thanks for the help guys.

Yes it probably is !! Most of the King Tigers from s.SS.Pz.Abt 501 in the Ardennes was painted in the ambush patern.
The turret numbers would have been red outlined in white.

I could swear I answered this exact question before. There are several renditions of Tiger 204 of the sSS Pz Abt. 501 in the Ardennes. Yellow and olive green hard-edge ambush pattern over red-primer, with blue numbers with yellow outline, no Zimmerit. At least that’s how Jentz and Doyle see it in Osprey’s King Tiger Heavy Tank, 1942-1945.

Here we go… [:p] Tigers In Combat II lists the numbers as red and white, 3rd company used blue/yellow. [;)] Unless of course it was one of the 11 from the 509th, they were all yellow numbers. But they weren’t, because they were outlined, so they are red/white. [:p]

And just to make things more exciting, Osprey’s other book, Ardennes 1944: Peiper and Skorzeny has them as black and white…[}:)]

I’d go with red/white. [:D]

Red and white it is. Also the ambush pattern, which turned out pretty neat on a Late Panther I did. Looks kind of crappy at first until you get all the colours on and then it looks great. Thanks again for the help.
