King Of The Monsters

Here it is - ‘King Of The Monsters’ (aka Man In The Monster) resin kit produced by Sci-Fi Models and Stuff. A 1/6 scale tribute to Haru Nakajima who played Godzilla and other Kaiju monsters in 12 consecutive films.

Figure was painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with oils. The base is scratch-built using bits and pieces from the original Aurora/Atlantis Godzilla kit as an homage to the first model I ever built as a kid. Detailed the buildings with floors and rubble. Lots of acrylic washes and dry brushing to give it a weathered appearance.

That’s a hoot! I love the subject and your paint execution! Otsukaresama deshita!

Super fun subject and a nice sculpting job. Very well painted!

I’ve gotta hand it to ya Rob…that’s one helluva good job man. Never in a million years would I have ever expected to see something like this in modeling but…here it is. My hat goes off to you bro.

Amazing build. Unbelievable painting and weathering. Nice work.

Cheers,
Mark

I love this. The painting technique is so good that I can’t even comment on in with any specificity. The face is just perfect.

And seeing those big clawed toes not quite touching the ground, just like the real costume, really sells it.

Your Godzilla actor figure sure brings back memories for me. I used to watch a lot of the old Godzilla films when I was a kid. Great job on the model.
For those who may be wondering who all the Japanese actors were that were in Godzilla costumes as well as the making of the costume itself, here’s a book that has a chapter that describes all that.

Brilliant subject, very well done especially the figure, and the wrecked buildings base goes well. Been watching Godzilla minus one recently, still going after all these years!
