This 48 scale ‘Tony’ is weather beaten, as I tried 2 different idea’s on chipping the paintwork, The entire aircraft was covered in Tamiya AS-12, when dry the underneath was all masked off and the canopy, the anti glare panel was painted, when dry was masked over and the Dark Green was applied to the wings and fuselage. After the decals were applied and settled, the fuselage area was scratched with a tooth pick, to chip the green paintwork and decal edge, the wing was chiped using a file, then lightly rubbed with an emery board.
Great looking Ki 61, I really like the weathering job you did on it.
Thats what I like about the Axis aircraft, they were often painted in interesting paint schemes and had that ‘‘well used’’ look to them.
Excellent work, Rob! The weathering is fantastic.
One correction: it’s “Hien” (“Swallow”), not “Hein”
Sorry! You spend all day translatin’ this kinda stuff, and it just comes out!
