Kettenkrad pics

Pics of my kettenkrad.
Tamiya’s 1/35
Nice kit made better. It was supposed to be a quicky weekend build. I just can’t leave well enough alone.
New notek light scratched, new fender scratched, fender supports, fork suspension springs made, canvas flap over fork (made from aluminum foil), handle bars, handgrips, headlight switch and cable, front light cables for side fender lights, mudflaps, scratchbuilt and engine detailed. The engine access panel screens were cut out and a loose weave silk fabric was used to replace the solid molded screens. Electrical cables and interior of cab detailed. Floor boards made from wood, and vent holes cut in linkage cover plates on floor. Added brake and transmission petals. Scratch built a steering tension knob.
The base for this will be a ditch that this is negotiating. The driver has been converted so he is standing in the cab. A photo from the manual illustrating the proper method of crossing a ditch was used for reference.

Anyone else ever have problems getting the wheels and tracks to fit on this kit? This took some work. Much gnashing of teeth and cursing.

Wow! Look at that! That is just wonderful. Great job. I like the detailing that you did on that crap I mean krad. LOL. Sorry can’t get Chris off my mind each time I see one of those.

I love it. Might get one soon.

looks great! I have been dieing to do one.

Nice Mike. Brings back memories when I did that kit years ago…now if you want a challenge with the Ketten’s wheels and tracks, try Dragon’s ‘300 parts for just the tracks’ kit.[:D]

mike i think its done very well. still picking my jaw up off the floor. well done.

Love it, great build! You’re inspiring me to crack open my Drag…300 parts for the tr…forget it, I’ll wait for the winter.
Awesome job, thanks for sharing.

Awesome build Mike, nicely done. Love all that you have done with it.

Super workmanship as always Mike.

A weekend build you say … HAHAHAHAHAHA

NIcely done, Mike. You’ve taken weekend builds to the next rung on the ladder [:D]

Great looking build!! Is it the kit with the the 3 figures . If so I have it and I sure hpoe it turns out that good cause it looks pretty dated.

After getting over the painful flashback of my Kettenkrap I opened the thread and was plesently astonished Mike. Great job on it for sure. I had the same thoughts of doing some scratch improvements on mine but I lost my patience after some of the same cussing and such. I did have some problems with getting the wheels and tracks to work, seemed like the puter ones did not want to go on to it. And that was the kit ones , not the replacement ones for the ones that got melted. Look forward to seeing it ont eh base, I know you will do that justice as well.

A super job, thanks for the pics.

Sensational work Mike, always a pleasure to see your work. Excellent photographs of something so tiny, too.

Goes to show that the older Tamiya kits still polish up with a bit of love and styrene. And a few curses.

Dwight, I always think of Chris too!

Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
