Please tell me…What does achtung mean?
It’s a German word which translates to “Attention!” or “Beware!”
How does it apply to aircraft modeling???
Just asking.
Beats me.
oh well i geuss it doesn’t matter things around here and in the diorama forum have been moving slow so i look forward to helping even the most redundant questions!
One word used by German fighter pilots in WWII to call out enemy fighters was ‘indianer’, meaning ‘indians’. It wouldn’t have been unusual to hear ‘achtung indianer!’ called out over the radio, similar to American pilots’ use of the word ‘bandits!’ or some such.
Fade to Black…
Attention!
Jerry
warning!
It’s German for [#offtopic [:D]
Pretty common on placards and stencils on German aircraft. This might have been the motivation for the question?
cheers
Mike
Achtung Spitfire!!!
Since when does a simple question become off topic, especially when the subject is found on the instruction sheet of a kit?? Now if the question had been about what size underwear Margaret Thatcher wears, well that is way off topic[:P]
LOL:)
well? what size?? [;)]
As it applies to an instruction sheet, it probably meens to pay attention to a particular step.
In terms of markings on aircraft, warning signs similar to “Achtung!” are found all over military aircraft for the ground crews. “Danger, hot exhaust!”, “Warning, 100LL fuel only”, etc. etc.
So, it’s quite relevant to modeling.
Yeah i combat flight sim, all german pilots yell “Actung! Indianer!” when they see bandits.
Achtung means attention or Warning.
OKay thanks,I see links for Achtung!Stuka web site and have just been wondering what it was. Thanks for the replies
I think translated it means “more beer”[:D]
I know from personal experience that she wears a size 8. Don’t ask, it was a sort of misunderstanding between myself and a few MI5 agents.
also there were other instances of german words stenciled on aircraft such as the drop tanks on a BF-110 which says Keine Bombe! which means not a bomb.
