Why do some members not have an avatar? One well-known person comes to mind right away: wbill76…the world wonders…
I don’t have an avatar because the system is “stuck” on an avatar I used to have that represented the El Paso IPMS group…but since I don’t belong to that organization any longer, when I tried to change it, it wouldn’t accept it. So I go without one. [:D]
Man, there must be a way to get that fixed !!! Help !!!
Tangentially related thought… do you guys ever change your avatars, or just stick with one? I change mine when the mood hits me, but it might be the multiple personality disorder speaking…
I stick with what works, and what works for me is Little Miss Tokyo.
I’m gonna have to change mine in a little while, now that I can actually take and post a pic…I’m more of a “mood swing” type person anyway.
I’ll be sticking with mine…it just fits[oX)]
“I love the smell of muzzle blast in the morning”
Rounds Complete!!
I’m sticking with it–an avatar is as much an identity as is a name. After a while, I get to know people almost more by their avatar than their actual names!
Mine has always been the same. My favorite plane the SM 79. Though on some other sites i have been known to post a not so flattering picture of a freind of mine on sites like ebay where there is a place for a photo of you. He was about three sheets to the wind when I snapped it and I think the pictures is hilarious! You gotta love digital cameras! he is a good sport about it and takes it like a man.

Personally I choose to stick with the same one. In addition to a username, it can be used to help me remember a specific person, and I associate my memories of the user with the picture. It also makes it even faster to see who posted something by quickly glancing at the colors in the corner, instead of reading a username.
You are absolutely forbidden to change your avatar.[}:)]
As for me… my avatar has no meaning whatsoever.[:-^]
I agree with you doog. You can pick out posters quicker by there avitar photos. One thing I think alot of people miss also is the location listed under our screen names. For instance I have received only one comment on my “location” Since i have posted it. Also have noticed when someone lives in my area of Southwestern Conneticutt like JMart and learned of a hobby store I did not know about! I was also able to make him aware of a store near me that he was not aware of.

Nobody messes with the hairdo.
Yeah, I think that’s what my avatar meant[:D].
I havent found a good pic and I have never looked into making one Oh well!!
As for mine, I guess it is pretty much what I value. The painting is titled “The Veteran at Home” by Horace Vernet. I think this scene, at least to me, says much. A Grenadier of the Old Guard at home on leave has stolen away behind a fence to play with and spend some private time with his daughter, and most likely hasn’t seen in some time. He wants to avoid everyone at the party in the background who inevitably wants to hear the “war stories”… To me this one painting reminds me of my primary responsibility and what is ultimately important in this life.

I try to keep the same avatar, the picture of my wife and I, so that people who already know me can quickly and easily identify that it’s me even if my screen names are different on all the model forums. [:D]
I change mine when I’m sure that everyone thinks I’m an ***hole, then people will reply to my posts [:-^][(-D]
Have not found one that is good for me yet. Well I changed my mind . I thought of a inspiring pic that I took on my honeymoon to Hawaii. It’s the flag that is flying over the Arizona memorial.
So in a strange way…not having an avatar is like a trademark that identifies wbill !!!
Well, while we’re at it, you know what would be nice? If people would fill in their profile a little bit when you go click on their name to find out a little bit about them–some people are like, totally blank on their profile–how…OOB! [sigh]…[;)]
