Just received my............

…Academy 1/48 Seversky P-35! The postman must’ve stuck it inside the mudroom door yesterday but I didn’t notice it until this a.m.

I was going to build this for the FAA group build…but have changed to a Fairey Stringbag…I will use this kit to try and get some skills back…except for some scratchbuilt things and kitbashes just for something to do…I haven’t done any serious modeling in many years as a lot of you know.

I am really struck by the size, or lack of it, of this kit! It looks almost 1/72!! What a tiny fighter this plane was.

Everything looks good in the box though. Just waiting for the glues, extra tools, paints, putty, et al…ad nauseam…and big-bucks outlay I had to do just to get restarted.

This site is such a fantastic resource!

Thanks

Nam

It’s a nice kit Nam & a good choice for starting over in the Hobby. Post some pics as you progress.

Will do…In fact…after joining this site one of my first purchases was a digital camera!

Good score! Look forward to seeing WIP pics soon!

Having built this kit, I can say you are in for a real treat. The fit is above average and the external detail is excellent. If you are a super detailer you will want to buy some aftermarket stuff for the interior, but once the fuselage is glued together it’s hard to see much in there anyways.

Yep Mucker…thanks for the heads up.

I have never purchased or used any AM…or PE stuff…I used to saw off pieces of sprue and other things to make dial faces on instrument boards etc. But with all the excellent help here, I know I’ll be alright. I take direction well[8D]

The P-35 will prolly be OOB to, as I said…get the ‘feel’ back. I have actually ordered TWO of this kit from online sites I found out about here…to see how the service is.

The 1/48 Stringbag is going to be a challenge no matter how I approach it, though I will do the FAA GB justice.
