Beautiful work!
The cockpit looks excellent- the dry brushing looks awesome.
I always loved those Sabres and their colorful markings.
Eric-
Looks great from here! I really scrutinized those pics, but couldn’t find a single thing that didn’t look right! You are truly a gifted modeler.
Totally awsome! That one looks like you could climb in and fly it away - great job!
excellent work, im building a sabre right now. that is definitely some good inspiration.
Like all your others… really nice.
Kick the tires and light the fires! She’s a beauty!!!
One of my favs MR and she is a beauty!! Are those actual markings from the pilots aircraft? Seems I have seen those somewhere.
…I actually marked it after the one I flew over MiG alley…JUST KIDDING!
…the markings are actually ficticious; there was a scheme I had called “the Paper Tiger” and another that had the word “Dragon” in the stylized script…I merged the two and came up with: “the paper Dragon”…thought it sounded cool…
…as far as the opposite side name and nose art, it was not uncommon for pilots to share the limited numbers of F-86’s in country, so often there were two names and/or nose arts on the same a/c, but usually on the same side…artistic license…LOL…
Personally, I like Nina. [}:)]
Awesome bird though…sighs, someday I’ll be able to build an aircraft that looks as good.
Huh, it appears that there might be a bit of truth behind the ‘conspiracy theory’ that Manstein is attempting ‘Total World Domination’, by starting right here. [:O], [:D]
Another beauty. I just hope Nina doesn’t catch a cold!
If I may ask, what did you use for your metal finish?
…standard metal shades…none of the “buffable” type—those are too high maitenance for me…if you get a clean and smooth coat, you can make them look just as good, IMO…some of the polishable paints, IMO, look too bright, especially taking into account scale…
i don’t see how you guys do it…make such real models…[V]
Another quality build Manny. Are you an extremely fast builder and have built all these specimins in about a week? Or are they a couple of years worth?
…Guy
…LOL…no, I am not just building these; most of my “serious” builds go back 8 years or so—I have a backlog of stuff sitting in my cabinets…reason for the rapid posts is that I just discovered the Forum and the marvels of digital cameras…
I’m building my first model since I was a kid; I’m 47 now and I got an airbrush for father’s day.
When I’m not working on my 1/48 P-38 I’m on this forum looking and reading trying to pick up on all the tips I can.
I go to wingnuts and agapemodels websites and just sit in awe at the work these guys and others do.
Drybrushing, preshading, washes, extemely detailed cockpits, weathering, it can be overwhelming to a newbie like myself.
I’d love to spend some time in person with these pros or maybe find some type of model builders workshop seminar or something.
When I get done with my P-38 I think I’ll post a few pictures of it and absorb all the constructive criticism that anyone might offer.
I’ve already purchased the Tamiya 1/48 P-47 Thunderbolt as my next (2nd) build.
I’ve copied and pasted some of the pictures of the cockpit from the kit that have been done by you pros. I go to them for inspiration and wonder, HOW DO THEY DO IT???
…looking forward to your pics…
Looking at your models, I am reminded why I don’t do planes…ALL THE DECALS–AAAARGH!
You’ve got waaaay more patience than me, Manny…and I have to say that I doubt I could even come close to your skill on these babies; really gorgeous finishes, perfect decalling…you OWN this forum, MANNY!
Show me an Airco DH.2 or an F.E.2b with all the rigging and then I’ll be impressed! [:P]
j/k of course. Nice work, Manny. [tup]
…LOL…I’m sure there are more skilled airplane “riggers” than me…I have tried that and respect all of those who can do it IMENSELY…
