I’ve built plenty of models over the years, added resin and PE detail packages and even ventured into the realms of the vacuform but one thing I have always avoided - even more than the dreaded NMF was the rescribe project. No longer! With a cry of BANZI! I have leapt into the rescribe.
Venturing into the unknown is a scary thing indeed. With palpitating heart and slightly shaking hand I have laid the first strips of Dymo tape and carefully drew the scribe across the virgin plastic. Wish me luck, fellow modelers, for I shall succeed or suffer the effects of a self-inflicted lobotomy!

swanny be careful man. this is uncharted waters. for gods sake wear a mae west.
all joking aside i look forward to your attempt. which kit will recieve this attention?
joe
Good luck. Steady hands and a straight edge along with a sharp tool will get you there. Hang tough, Swanny !
Here is my victim …
Hit you in the head with a hammer?
Alright…
You can do it Matt. Your skills at modeling are exceptional my friend. [:D] [;)]
Mike
Thanks Mike. I knew I could count on you.
be carful man thats my most favorite japanese aircraft of all time pleez be gentle with it~!
I’ve been too afraid to rescribe myself, maybe you’ll give me the confidence. Of course, I’ve not been modeling as long as you, and am nowhere near as good. I wish you the best of luck Swanny. Win this one for the gipper.
It takes a steady hand to scribe. Why don’t you practice a little on the Operation game. Buzzzz…Butterfingers!
A Picture of Swanny BEFORE the rescribe job…
…and a picture AFTER.
You’ll have to explain the procedure, I have miles of dymo tape I thought I’d never use, maybe its of some use after all.
Dymo tape?
So that’s how you do it!
That puts a couple of kits back on the build list.
Best of luck with the build.
Karl
Personally, I rather enjoy rescribing. Lotsa fun!
But I’ve got a sledge reserved for you, whenever you may ask…
Fade to Black…
That is one fantastic looking little plane…
I have to have one…make sure you show us pictures of the thing when it’s finished!
Swanny you have more guts than me, good luck with the project.
Thad
Homerfett - I think you have made an accurate assessment.
Ah, Well done Homer, Dear old Marty Feldman, what a comedian. I must dig out Young Frankenstein to watch once more, brilliant [:D]
Now that the shameless plug for Brit comedy is over, Good luck Swanny, remember the motto, I’d rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal lobotomy. Remember to count your fingers every so often too!
Pete
What are you using to rescribe? a scribing tool, or an exacto knife? A friend uses a pin in an exacto handle…
Oh, and if there’s anyone here in the forums that can do it, you can! [;)]
Speaking of rescribing, I am trying to rescribe some lines on a Zeke drop tank, and it’s making me say some words my wife finds unfortunate. The tank was not symmetrical out of the box, and I had to do some reshaping to make it look right, thereby destroying the surface detail. The tank is, of course, round in cross section and tapered on both ends, and I am finding it difficult to do three things at once: hold the tank steady, keep the dymo tape in place, and scribe. The panel lines that run around the circumference of the tank are particularly difficult because they are on the tapered enc. Does anyone have a suggestion how to scribe a circumference line on a tapered part? I thought of building a jig that could spin the tank, but that’s a big project in itself.
