Hey all,
Just got back into scale modeling. Haven’t done it since I was a kid. Finally got the time for it now. Must say I am having a blast doing it again…especially now that I can afford to do it on the level I always wanted to but could never afford as a kid.
Enjoy doing aircraft, but plan on doing some armor down the road. Hope to get some good advice from the more experienced members here.

Thanks all! I will definitely post my current project. I am almost finished. Building an F-18 Super Hornet (1/48). I must say the “ol chops” come back pretty quick, kind of like riding a bicycle. So…pics soon to come.

You post the pics in the forum that the build is in. Planes go in the aircraft Forum,Armour in the armour, cars in the car forum, etc. They have to make it that easy for all the “old timers” like me that have a lot of trouble with these new fangled gadgets called computers. When you get to be my age you’ll understand. The first thing that goes is …uhhhhhh…ummmmmmmm…when I remember, I’ll let you know.[;)]

You know, you could be right. I just remembered something [snWow], I had a scan of my head done a while back because of bad headaches. After the test, they told me that they couldn’t find anything between my right ear and my left ear. Do you think that could be the reason? The glue and paint fumes dissolved my brain. Oh boy, better not let my wife hear that. I’ve been using the results of that scan as an excuse for forgetting things. She might take my glue and paint away from me. Oh noooooooooooooooo.

Were you a sailor. I see you’re signature says you were a Norfolk man. I was stationed out there when I served for about 3 years…
If you mean Norfolk Virginia, i know thats a big US naval base there, then no. I am from Norfolk in England. That saying is from a sailor, the great man himself, Nelson

I am sure there’s plenty of places in the US that i have not heard of. Of course many places there are named after towns or counties here, and i reckon anyone who is interested in things military has heard of Norfolk Virginia. And i reckon theres plenty of Brits who couldn’t tell you were Norfolk in England is, and we are a lot smaller than you are.

Yes sir, Navy man. I was an electrician, then changed jobs to mineman (swept for waterborn mines). Only did 5 years. Needs of the Navy, and the Navy didn’t need me anymore. LOL…seriously though, big down-sizing in the military right now so they let me go early (Honorable Discharge). What did you do in the British Army?

Your a braver man than me. I spent a week on a ship going round the falklands. We never got more than 10 miles from land, that as more than enough from me.
I was in the Infantry and i did a few different things. As well as a regular GRUNT, i spent some time in unit intelligance, a few years in our MILAN paltoon, thats a wire guided AT weapon system. Also spent a few years driving Warriors. And some time in the stores. I spent my last 5 years attached to a unit called JHSU. We worked closely with helicopters doing underslung loads mainly.
22 years is the max you can do as an OR in the British Army, except under certain circumstances. I did apply to stay on, but given the curret cutbacks, i didn’t have high hopes. I only came out in Oct.
Mine sweeping, now thats a job and a half.
Theres quite a few ex service on here. There may even be the odd one form the airforce (well, we have to humour them don’t we) [:D]. You should be well at home.

Don’t want to hijack so a big [snWcm] from me too! But Bish, have you ever heard of East Liverpool? I was born there (parents born in England) but it seems to me it’s very far west of the REAL Liverpool. BTW the East Liverpool I was born in is in Ohio.
